Professional Reference Services is a unit of Instructional Technology Outreach (ITO) Division of Technology Services.

Outreach Services

Professional Reference Services provides outreach to school districts and the community by holding vendor fairs in conjunction with curriculum adoption cycles and by conducting workshops for library staff development for public and private school library staff. Library Services annually coordinates selections for schools and distribution to schools of all new and used Reading by 9 donations. L.A. County's involvement in the Los Angeles Times Reading by 9 Holiday Book Drives--more than 1 million books have been distributed to local schools over the past few years.

Instructional Services

The collection and research tools give Library users current information on the California curriculum content standards, frameworks, and adopted materials (K-8). Additionally, Library staff provides research on request.

Technology Services

Among the Reference Center's research tools are CD-ROM ERIC listings and the availability of information via the Internet.
